Carlo is the founder of Alterna Films. He has successfully owned and operated Alterna for over 13 years now. As a graduate from Simon Fraser University, he holds a degree in Communications and a minor in Business. Carlo has directed action films that have taken him and his crew all over the world to locations including Japan, Iceland, India, Europe, and South America. Alterna Films has attained global recognition and acclaim specifically in the outdoor action sports genre. As a natural progression, while continuing to produce high end action films, Alterna has diversified as a company and produced various commercial projects with a solid list of clients that include Red Bull, DDB Advertising, Mike Wiegeles Heli Ski, Grouse Mountain Resorts, West Coast Fishing Club, Vancouver Canucks, BC Hydro, Bell media, Phillips/O’neill, Revelstoke Mountain Resort just to name a few. Byron is a motivated and enthusiastic individual whose passion lies in cinematography. With 8 years of on set experience which includes working on Warner Brothers television series Supernatural, he has also worked on countless feature films, music videos and commercials. Patrick’s career began at the age of seventeen when he began producing and shooting his own BMX DVD’s. He made his way west to attend the Vancouver Film School to study Film Production. Patrick has directed and shot several award winning short films. He has won Best Picture and People’s Choice at the Telus 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown two times, Best Picture and Audience Award at the Diesel 24 Hour Film Race twice, and Best Picture at the 2010 Whistler B-Grade Horror Festival which then screened at the Whistler Film Festival.

 

Living abroad has influenced much of Natalia’s design aesthetic. She has had the opportunity to live in Florence, Barcelona, and most recently – Vienna. For the past year Natalia lived in Vienna where she worked for a publishing house as their creative designer. There she was given the opportunity to focus on branding, layout design, art direction and advertising. Now back in her hometown, she uses her experiences and educational background to apply her skills in both art and design to her work. Natalia graduated from Emily Carr University with a degree in Communication Design and UBC with a degree in Fine Arts. You can see more of her work at Wein & Co.

 

Hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Derek Dix has been as a freelance photographer for the past five years, and as of May 2011 wrapped up his Bachelor of Design with a major in photography at ACAD. With no hesitation he packed up and headed back to the West Coast to dive into working freelance as a full-time focus. After spending four years out in Calgary for school he’s learned many things first-hand, like how to drive the Trans-Canada at through the night in a white out, how rime forms… or how to focus his photographic work on the idea that at the end of the day, it’s a visual form of communication. This is where he focuses his craft of photography; aiming to connect viewers through powerful narratives focusing on mood, environment and subject, paired with a meticulous attention to detail.

Jessica loves to capture life unfolding in front of her lens. With a diploma in Professional Photo Imaging from Langara College, Jessica has worked with such Companies as the Vancouver Canucks, B.C. Tristan Norton & Martin Kottmeier are a film, television and media composition team from Vancouver, Canada. For more than 10 years, the two musicians have been playing together in various bands and musical projects.

Norton and Kottmeier first gained recognition and a degree of success in the acclaimed indie-rock band “The Sessions,” placing 1st in the Emergenza world’s largest battle-of-the-bands in Rothenberg, Germany. The band went on to record with legendary producer Bob Rock (Metallica,Bon Jovi, Michael Buble) and release two EPs.

The Sessions attained regular song placements in MTV’s “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” and “Schwayze” as well as an array of extreme sports films. Furthermore, the band’s song “18 Candles” has become a staple on the History channel’s reality series, “Pawn Stars” and their song “My Love” recently gained national attention in a 2010 Vans Television advertisement.
